How Can Effective Parental Control Options Maximize YouTube Safety?

With the abundance of content available on platforms like YouTube these days, parents want to make sure their kids aren't exposed to any unsuitable material or aren't spending too much time in front of the screen.

Well, such situations make it imperative to set up appropriate safety measures to make sure the young teens are safe and having fun using the YouTube app.

Thankfully, this video platform offers some wonderful parental control tools to help parents keep their children protected while they explore the world of online entertainment.

Let's read this blog to find out how to maximize YouTube safety with efficient parental control tools

How To Set Up YouTube Parental Control?

YouTube's Restricted Mode is the first line of defense when it comes to keeping your kids safe.

This feature not only filters out potentially mature content but also makes sure that only age-appropriate videos are shown.

Here's how you can enable it:

  • Open the YouTube app and sign into your YouTube account

  • Once you're signed in, click on your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen.

  • From the dropdown menu, select "Settings."

  • In the settings menu, click on "Parental controls."

  • Now, enter your account password for security purposes.

  •  After entering your password, toggle on the option "Restricted Mode." This will filter out potentially mature content.

However, If you want to create a supervised account for your children, here’s what you all need to do:

  • Firstly, click on "Set up supervised account" or "Add a supervised account."

  • Follow the instructions to set up the supervised account, including creating a new Google account for your children if they don't already have one.

  • Once the supervised account is set up, you can manage content restrictions, search history, and screen time limits from the parental control settings.

  • If you want to block specific channels or videos, you can do so by clicking on "Blocked content" in the parental controls settings, and by entering the channel or video URL that you want to block.

To view your child's watch history:

  • Go back to the parental controls settings and click on "View watch history."

  • This will show you what your child has been watching on YouTube.

Doubtlessly, these steps will help you set up parental controls on YouTube effectively, but it's also vital to have open communication with your children about internet safety and responsible online behavior.
